As the dust settles from the earthquake and tsunami that shook Japan to its foundation, tattoo artists including Jeff Gogue, Mike Godfrey, Horitaka, Chad Koeplinger and Japanese resident, Shige, have come forward to donate their time and artistic talents to help raise money for people of Japan.
Gogue was recently asked by Shige of Yellowblaze Tattoo in Yokohama, Japan to collaborate on a t-shirt design to raise funds for the victims in Japan. Jeff eagerly accepted the invitation and enlisted his colleague Godfrey at Gogue Art Tattoo, who was also happy to donate skills to the project.
All three artists worked together creating three separate designs, which includes a collaborative design by both Gogue and Shige.
All of these t-shirt designs including original drawings, limited edition prints, and stickers are available at www.allforjapan.org except the Shige shirt, which will be available only through him.
All proceeds will be donated, through Shige, to the Japanese Red Cross Society and Gogue will be awarding a full day tattoo appointment to the person who makes the largest donation through the site.
In addition, Horitaka and the employees at State of Grace Tattoo in San Jose, have started their own fund raising campaign: I Stand With Japan.
Along with Koeplinger, Tamiko, Miles Rast from Rasteroids Design, Suzanna Enriquez, Phillip Nguyen, Charlie Ngo and Colin Baker, they all formed a collaborative effort together, and designed their own t-shirt.
All proceeds from I Stand With Japan will also be donated to the relief efforts in Japan and State of Grace, to date has already raised and donated nearly $6,000 dollars to the Red Cross.
