My first blog…
I’ve never blogged before but I’ve been a contributor/reader/supporter of Tattoo Artist Magazine since its inception, and so when Crash asked me to join the new blogging crew, I readily agreed. I figure it’ll be a mix of tattoo news, upcoming projects, food posts and photos of my dog… Very similar to my Facebook probably. Hope ya”ll like it…
Since Crash and I talked about this at Long Beach Ink ‘n Iron, that’s probably a good place to start. This was the 8th year of the Queen Mary show and the line up was stellar as always, a lot of the usual suspects: Jack Rudy, Steve Byrne, Henning [Jorgensen], Scott Sylvia, Oliver Peck, Tim Hendricks, Robert Atkinson, Eric Jones, Steve Looney, Paulo Manabe, Cody Miller, and ton of other first-rate artists. State of Grace had a triple booth with Horiken hand tattooing, myself, Dan Wysuph, Colin Baker and Chad Koeplinger. We had a blast!
As an added treat, on Friday night, Chuey Quintanar and Brynne and Blake Worthy swooped us up and took us to TSURUHASHI. Chuey treated us to $600 of Kobe beef and if you are in Fountain Valley, check out this great yakiniku spot! The show itself was packed, and the one problem Ink ‘n Iron had with the long wait is being addressed. On Saturday afternoon, due to security clearance and wristband scanning, it was taking two- three hours to get in.
Now, as a convention organizer myself, I must say having long lines is a good problem to have but getting people in quickly is important. Juan Puente and the Ink ‘n Iron team are already on it and will have a more streamlined system for next year. I had a great time and am looking forward to next year’s show!
Okay, that’s my first entry, gotta do a tattoo now, more soon…
