Thom deVita, Ed Hardy, Nick Bubash Firecat Projects Art Show Opening Review

By John Niederkorn
First off, let me just say that this is not a traditional “review” considering  the fact that I’m not an artist… With that said this show was (in my unprofessional opinion) AWESOME! The opening was held on Oct. 28th, 2011 at  Tony Fitzpatrick’s Firecat Projects, located quaintly in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood, and the only way I can describe the show room is, phenomenal…

Each artist brought something completely different, and yet awe-inspiring to the table. It was a true pleasure to see all the work presented from each artist. And on top of all that, you could just walk right up to them and talk to each of them personally.

Ed Hardy had a large collection of panther pieces on display, along with a plethora of stunning originals. They were all amazing… words can’t describe it.

Nick Bubash had the most diverse and eclectic pieces on display, including everything from flash, mixed-media projects and original paintings. It was quite an impressive amalgamation of contrast and style.

However, personally… Thom deVita takes the cake at this art show (not to take anything away from Hardy and Bubash). However, deVita’s folk-art style can not be reproduced or matched. And everyone should just send Thom $20 bucks right now, because he is truly one of most interesting and innovative artists of our time. I have pictures to prove it!

The show at Firecat Projects will run until the end of Nov. I suggest all of you in the Chicagoland area to check it out, and if you are visiting the city don’t miss this! The pictures above do absolutely no justice to the breadth of work on display, you just have to see it for yourself…
