Fxck Cancer Fundraising Benefit at HB Tattoo
By Thomas Morgan
What up y’all, for those who don’t know who I am, my name is Thomas Morgan from HB Tattoo in Southern California. As most of you already know, on November 21st the Amsterdam Tattoo Museum was taken away from all of us, doors locked forbidding access and collection taken hostage! The Amsterdam Tattoo Museum is the first museum that is totally dedicated to tattooing. It shows the world’s largest tattoo collection, collected by Henk (Hanky Panky) Schiffmacher. Fighting tooth and nail along side of Henk is his lovely wife Louise ‘The Queen’ Schiffmacher. In the midst of their year-long battle to save the Museum, Louise recently got news that she has liver cancer and needs a transplant. (Letter from Louise: http://ow.ly/gQj7f.) Now they need our support more than ever. That’s where we come in! We have recently teamed up with an Non-Profit Foundation based here in Huntington Beach, CA called “Fxck Cancer” a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Together, I think all of us in the tattoo community, along with Fxck Cancer can raise the funds needed to help out Louise, Henk and the Foundation…
Here is the plan: Our goal is to raise over $200,000.00 in a 72 hour period. How are we gonna do that? We are going to make Tattoo HISTORY by setting the Guinness Book of World Records of most tattoos by a group of 50 artists in a 72 hour period. Per the Guinness guidelines, all tattoos must be the same design so we will be using the “F skull C” from the Fxck Cancer logo (See below). The tattoos must be 1.25 x 3 inches, have a minimum of two colors so we will do black with multiple grey-tone shades, and must be on a first-come-first-served basis. Every tattoo has to be recorded for Guinness Book eligibility.
Now in order to set the Guinness World Record of most tattoos in a 72 hour period and hit our goal we are going to need 50 artists total. 25 artists will be working at one time, putting in three 12 hour shifts over the 72 hour period, each artist hopefully doing about two tattoos an hour. Each tattoo will be $100 donation per customer(remember this is for charity). If each of us do only one tattoo for each hour we work it would be a total of 36. That’s $2500.00 an hour for 72-hours which equals a minimum total of $180,000 raised. Well known and famous artists will be the attraction and equal record-breaking results if you ask me. So if we can get everyone’s support to start hyping and getting the homies to show up I think we can make this dream a reality. Also, on top of the 50 artist needed we will need helpers as well to help set up, break down, etc… So if any apprentices are out there that would like to give us a hand this goes out to you too!
The major importance is to get the word out now and the way to do that is through each of our social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or whatever else you use.) Even though we can’t book appointments we can “pre-book” heads to show up and maybe even give the option of an extra $100 donation to jump to the front of the line. We can direct followers to the Fxck Cancer pages where they will be blowing this shit up on a daily basis with important info and advertisements. Let’s push people into the Fxck Cancer Foundation’s arms so that they know what the foundation represents, what they do and who they are at the same time. One flyer will be dispersed for all of us to share that says, what this benefit is for, who’s gonna be there, basically what’s going down and to follow FxC for all event info and updates. That way the public can go to one page and see exactly what’s going on…
First thing first though, we need to get the artists who want to participate together and all agree on the dates of Jan 19, 2013 8:00 PM – Jan 22, 2013 8:00 PM with an after party to immediately follow our victory! We want to set a record that can never be touched as far as hours of tattooing and money raised.
Entertainment, security, food and drinks will be provided by Fxck Cancer and they have some good shit planned. Your travel and lodging arrangements is on you, so make it happen. If anyone has any ideas to offer up please do so. You can contact me at: firstname.lastname@example.org
