JoJo Ackermann: Fear of a Flash Planet

By JoJo Ackermann
About six months ago, three guys in their early 20s walked into the shop around opening time with the request to have a heart and the word “Mom” tattooed on their asses. Honestly, I thought they were just screwing around but after a few laughs and some more questions, I realized these dudes were serious about getting it done…  (more…)

JoJo Ackermann: That’s The Impression That I Get

By JoJo Ackermann
Tattoos are my life!” That is a bold statement. I have heard it from beginners with less than five years and from veteran tattooers with more than 20 years in the craft… Hell, I have even said it myself. It would seem that most people who begin their journey into the world of tattooing understand that it is a lifetime commitment, which reaches far beyond the ability to just apply a tattoo. By John Niederkorn
Las Vegas… Home of the perpetual Affliction t-shirt and unnecessary plastic surgery… Wait. Do I really wanna go down this road? Do I really wanna start like this? Buy the ticket, take the ride… Let’s just hope I make it to the Mirage Hotel and Casino before those god damn bats do…

New York City Tattoo Convention: On the Road in Brooklyn? (VIDEO)

Of all the things I’ve lost, I miss my mind the most… New York has missing pieces of my memory buried in her blanket of billboards, bright lights and broken glass… The end of the weekend had a very Fear-and-Loathing-in-Las-Vegas feel to it… There are cell phone camera-flashes, and small chunks of larger events replaying in a non-descriptive manner in my mind. I can recall middle pieces that have no end and beginnings that have no middle or ending… They only thing I’m 100 percent positive on; I had a good time… I think? [Video on expanded page] (more…)
