4th Annual ROC City Tattoo Convention: On the Road in Rochester, NY

roc-0

By Jimmy Perlman Unfortunately I don’t get to most tattoo conventions anymore. I know and hear about tons of great shows all over the world. Fact is, I work in a field that has me traveling between six and nine months a year so when I’m home from work it would be a real shit move to tell my wife and kid “alright now I know I was gone for a month working but I’m gonna go to this city for the weekend and hang out with some friends, have a good time and get tattooed.” Read More »

Fear and Tattooing in Las Vegas…

profile pic

By John Niederkorn Las Vegas… Home of the perpetual Affliction t-shirt and unnecessary plastic surgery… Wait. Do I really wanna go down this road? Do I really wanna start like this? Well, let’s start again… Vegas; it’s as if Hollywood, Times Square and Wrigleyville all had a fat overpriced tourist baby! There, that’s better… When Kent called me and said, “Hey, do you wanna go to Vegas for a week?” I cringed… and thought, “Wait until he sees those god damn bats!” There is no doubt that a week in Vegas would be just short of some kinda sick, demented self-suicide with a blackout blizzard of shame setting its course, heading straight for me… no stopping it, no preparation could help me weather that storm. Buy the ticket, take the ride… Let’s just hope I make it to the Mirage Hotel and Casino before those god damn bats do… Read More »

Dan Henk: Parasites of the Industry

dan-henk-1

By Dan Henk I want to start out by being very clear that it is not all of them… not all, but there are way too many, and they are like a parasite in the business. What am I talking about? These people who don’t tattoo, yet have their sticky fingers in the business… Read More »

The London Tattoo Convention, On the Road in England

london-tattoo-con-7

By Kent “I hate writing blogs” Smith Oh London, how I love you. Every year for the past five years I have traveled the London convention, stayed at the same hotel with a family of friends and shared a booth with my good buddy Hunter Spanks. Every year I am so stoked that I have been able to pick up long-distance relationships with friends right on the spot and add some new ones. I’m not talking about just people from overseas, but folks right here in the states that I only get to see once a year across the pond. The friendships and relationships that we are able to build in our community are amazing. I am constantly impressed by the sense of camaraderie we have in this industry… Read More »

Big Gus Goes Off the Map at the Paradise Tattoo Gathering

big-gus-1

By Big Gus Alright, this year’s trip to Paradise Tattoo Gathering was super cool, and I also had a chance to go to Off The Map Tattoo and guest-spot the week of the show. Let’s just say that the name Off The Map is fitting! It’s in small town USA where nobody locks their doors or cars, which seemed weird to me because back home in L.A. we lock up everything, including the dogs… Read More »

roc-city-12

By John  ROC City (now in its third year) had some pretty stiff convention competiton last weekend… ROC City was one of three major US shows that weekend, including the biennial Green Bay show and Hell City PHX. However, despite these shows, a hurricane, an earthquake and whatever other acts of God were thrown in the mix, ROC City definetely put the R-O-C back in rock… Read More »

Ink ‘N Iron Tattoo Convention, On the Queen Mary in Long Beach (VIDEO)

lbc-6

By Kent Smith I’m going to start this out by saying what an incredibly long week it was leading up to this convention. Crash, John and I all woke at 4 a.m. (well Crash and I did, I think John got up at 5 a.m.) to catch a flight from Atlanta to L.A. on June 3rd… Read More »
