I understand why people confuse Kent Smith and I… We are both smart, handsome and incredibly funny, actually I’m slightly more handsome, but it is such a small margin of error I see how it’s confusing for most. I would personally like to thank Lucky Bastard for calling me “Kent” all weekend, even going out of his way to pop into the TAM booth room just to shout KENT at the top of his lungs. Thanks for adding to the surmounting confusion… Ha-ha! On with the show… (more…)

So a few days later it’s off to Milan tattoo convention… The 17th edition, already! This is another one of my favorite convention because you get to see everyone and yet again… another great time. This convention is always packed with kick-ass artists, the attendance is unreal and it’s placed perfectly for folks from Switzerland, Germany, Austria and France to get there fairly easy… (more…)

So I got to Brighton on the 26th of February. The day after was the Magnum Opus pre-tattoo convention party. There was a shit-ton to do in that short time.Had to haul my drum set over to the Prince Albert where the party was..had to pack for the Brighton convention… had to get prints made etc… You know, all that last-minute shit… (more…)

Oh London, how I love you. Every year for the past five years I have traveled the London convention, stayed at the same hotel with a family of friends and shared a booth with my good buddy Hunter Spanks. Every year I am so stoked that I have been able to pick up long-distance relationships with friends right on the spot and add some new ones. I’m not talking about just people from overseas, but folks right here in the states that I only get to see once a year across the pond. The friendships and relationships that we are able to build in our community are amazing. I am constantly impressed by the sense of camaraderie we have in this industry…

I just got back from the Montreal Tattoo Arts Show and it was such a great event. The Tattoo Mania crew really knows how to put on a great convention and the Gomineko crew can’t wait for next year. While I was there I got a chance to hang out with one of my favorite convention buddies Dan Sinnes and pick his twisted brain a little…
Dan Sinnes: Yeah, but I still stayed in Luxembourg a lot. Because I still had a girlfriend at the time, and two dogs. But when I had the opportunity to do guest spots, I’d do it. After I had my break-up and I was by myself, I put it to the max and I went to the United States and traveled as much as I could, alone. (more…)
Ok, so this blog was supposed to be posted over a week ago, but I could not muster the strength or energy to get it done. It seemed that I somehow got brushed by the black finger of death while in Milan, with the worst illness I have faced to this day. I have no clue what this Italian funk was that I caught, but I do not wish that shit on my worst enemy… Well ok, maybe they too should be struck with it one day… (more…)
Here I am again, doing the airport shuffle. Those old familiar feelings of anxiety and excitement brew as I get ready for my first international trip of the year. I hate airports, flying, leaving my family and home, but I love new places and people so I deal… (more…)
