Health Issues With Tattooing (Marcus Kuhn)

marcusbat

By Petri Aspvik Petri Aspvik: What type of physical problem have you encountered do to tattooing? Marcus Kuhn: After 20 years I have pain in my number 11 acupuncture point just southeast of my right scapula as a result of the long swoop of lining and the repetitive pulse of the mag work. After four hours my shoulder becomes congested and starts to fill with fluid. like a nose when you are congested with the flu. The body is responding to the inflammation of the tissue by sending fluid to the area. At night my shoulder sometimes pulses with pain… The fluid takes three hours or more to drain. I have also lost a register of my hearing from the frequency of the ultrasonics and the running machines…  Read More »

Lucero Talks to Jimmy Perlman About the Joys and Pains of Touring and Tattoos

lucero-1

Jimmy Perlman: At about what age did you realize that you wanted tattoos? And what was the impetus? Ben Nichols: I was in high school. Turned 18 and went down to a crusty old biker’s tattoo shop on Asher Ave. in Little Rock, AR and picked some flash off the wall. That tattoo is now 19 years old and holding up fine… for better or worse. Brain Venable: I never really did know for sure, Steve Lovett the singer for Raid “convinced” me to pawn my stereo and get the judge hammers with “stomp crew” around them when I was 18, after that I was hooked… Read More »

Mike Ness: Tattoo Artist Magazine Interview from Social Distortion, Lucero and Frank Turner Fall Tour (Photos)

Social Distortion Live in ATL

By Crash At the start of last week I got a call from Jimmy Perlman, a tattooer comrade of mine that some of you probably know as a tour manager for various rock bands. Currently he’s working with the band Lucero who, along with Frank Turner are opening up for Social Distortion this fall. It seemed they were coming into Atlanta on Nov. 9 and (as is Jimmy’s custom no matter what city he’s in) he invited a few tattooers to a fuckin’ awesome VIP experience with the bands. Read More »
