TAM Music: Reverend Horton Heat Interview

By Rose Riot
For the past 20-plus years Jim Heath has been an icon in the 50′s rock-inspired scene. It is fitting then that he is known best by the name Reverend Horton Heat.  The Rev has been delivering a message of unity between punk and country and has a devoted cult of followers. The Reverend Horton Heat’s music embodies what rock and roll should be about, doin’ fun things. I talked to the Rev in the fall and we discussed the upcoming release of his box set due out any minute now…

TAM Music: Puscifer Show Review

By Rose Riot
Puscifer is “Simply a playground for the various voices inside my head… A space with no clear or discernible goals… Where my Id, Ego and Anima all come together to exchange cookie recipes,” this is how Maynard James Keenan [Tool, A Perfect Circle] describes his newest project. Puscifer is the least mainstream of Keenan’s bands and my favorite. I caught this wacky mix of musical silly and serious on November 30 at The Cobb Energy Center, a much smaller venue than the huge arenas that Tool sells out. The band is currently touring for their latest album Conditions of My Parole, released in October 2011…

TAM Music: Interview with Brian “Head” Welch Formerly of KoRn

By Rose Riot
We’ve all seen VH1′s: Behind the Music where the story is told of a hungry musician who fights to get to the top only to stumble upon money, drugs and sin eventually falling from the top position to a hard, cold rock-bottom. Brian “Head” Welch was no stranger to this storyline. The founding member and acclaimed guitarist of the band KoRn caved to the temptations of fame and found himself with a serious drug addiction…

TAM Music: Shonen Knife

By Rose Riot
Raise your hand if remember the all-girl, Japanese surf/garage rock band 5.6.7.8′s in the movie Kill Bill Volume 1? I am happy to report that these diminutive ladies otherwise known as Shonen Knife are celebrating their 30th year rocking Ramone-esque style with a US tour. Seen by some as a novelty act, Shonen Knife gained popularity and respect by the likes of Sonic Youth, Red Kross and Nirvana in the 90s. They have also gone on to do many theme songs used in movies and cartoons…

TAM MUSIC: Interview with Mike Dean from Corrosion of Conformity

By Rose Riot
Corrosion of Conformity (C.O.C.) the legendary hardcore band from North Carolina with almost 30 years history, has gone through many changes and members. Currently, three of  C.O.C.’s founding members Mike Dean, Woody Weatherman and Reed Mullin are on tour.

The the three-piece C.O.C. is doing a setlist that is made up mostly of the Animosity album. I was able to catch up with Mike Dean before the C.O.C. show in Atlanta at The Earl and ask him a few questions about the tour, controversy about the bands changing sound and his lack of tattoos…

Bryan Kienlen of the Bouncing Souls Talks About Touring and Tattooing

By Rose Riot
The Bouncing Souls are one of the staple bands in American punk rock. These four New Jersey boys have managed to travel the globe, playing shows with some of the world’s premier punk rock bands. But the band remains true to their punk rock roots as they still do a portion of their U.S. tours in their iconic white van. I had conversation with Bryan Kienlen, the bassist about his work with the band and a little but about his tattoo experience… (more…)

Summer is here, and that means music festival season. One such festival that I am looking forward to attending in the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Fest. Agent Orange Surf Rocks Their Way Through Atlanta

By Rose Riot

If you were a skater in the early 80s there was a good chance that you were a fan of the band Agent Orange. Agent Orange is the band responsible for morphing together the sounds of surf music and punk rock to create what became surf/skate punk music. This band hit the Orange County California scene in that magic year for music, 1979. Misfits Show Atlanta They Don’t Need Danzig to Rock the House (Photos)

By Rose Riot

“To see or not to see… The Misfits…?”

This is the question some of my friends asked themselves. Many of my friends saw the importance of seeing them, but there were others who said things like, “I don’t see tribute bands.”

I do what I want –and I wanted to see Misfits, so ‘ef’ it, I went. (more…)
