Daniel Albrigo: Interview With Musical Guru “Knick” of Bro Safari (VIDEO)

daniel-albrigo-1

By Daniel Albrigo Over the last couple of years, my musical interests have changed, like they have many times over the course of my life and career. A few years ago I was listening to mostly Reggae, Dancehall and tropically influenced music. After a while, this led right back into my interest in electronic music. Throughout high school and my early college years, my older brother went to a lot of parties, raves, skate demos, graffiti expos; all of which influenced and sparked my interest in art. It’s easy for me to say that both music and art went hand-in-hand from day one. Lately, I have been listening to a lot of Hip-Hop, Dancehall, Bass music and Electronic Dance music. During the process of finding new producers and DJs to listen to, I’ve come to realize, like other genres of music, there is a notable interest in tattooing from many big name musicians and DJs. Even one of our own, Billy “The Gent” from Tattoo Paradise in Washington, D.C. is a music producer who is well on his way to becoming a major player in the scene. As the stars align, (the way they strangely do on my daily path) I have been fortunate enough to be able to connect with a few of these people and over the next couple of TAM Blog posts, I will be interviewing them and introducing you to some brand new music. My first interview is with veteran Bass music all-star, Nick Weiller. More ... Read More »

Tattoo Artist Magazine: Rose Riot at NXNE and NIX

nxne-1

Despite an auspicious start my trip to Toronto to cover North by Northeast (NXNE) music festival and North Ink Exposure (NIX) tattoo convention was quite informative and enjoyable. NIX was my second convention and I was to learn how to run the TAM booth from the boothmaster John, as well as interview tattooers and cover music at NXNE. We embarked on this trip with less than a full night of sleep between us,  so by the time we made it to Canada we were what you might call, spent… Read More »

Keith Morris Talks About Music, Punk Rock and His New Band Off!

off!-1

By Rose Riot Keith Morris is known as one of the godfathers of American Punk. He is responsible for fronting two of the most crucial bands in the genre, Black Flag and The Circle Jerks. His latest band, Off! is creating a stir among fans young and old. The word on the streets is that Off! is the real punk rock deal. Having seen them recently at SXSW, I would agree. I felt honored that I was granted an interview with Keith, a man who has a lot to say and some great stories to tell… Read More »

Tattoo Artist Magazine Issue #25: 2011 SXSW Review

TAM-SXSW-1

By Rose Riot South By South West (SXSW) is a 10-day film, music and interactive conference that happens every year in Austin, Texas since 1987. It has been the career starting place for many musicians and a place for bigger name musicians to play for intimate crowds. SXSW has been on my “bucket list” for many years. My only reservation was that I would need to have help with the 15-plus-hour drive. As long as I could get help, I would do it. Luckily, I found the world’s best co-pilot, my friend Jen. I picked her up on Tuesday morning and we set out for what could be no less than a rock and roll adventure. Read More »
